LISA’S HOUSE
THE LOCATION CHANGED. THE MISSION HASN’T.
What began around a single kitchen table continues today through coffee shops, phone calls, mentoring, and new chapters.
Chapter 1: Where It Began
Lisa's House didn't begin with a vision to build a ministry. It began with a simple "yes."
Years ago, the Lord began asking me a quiet question: "How do you love this one?" Not the crowd. Not a big organization. Just the specific person He had placed right in front of me.
So, I said yes.
Then He brought another one. And another.
Over time, those simple acts of obedience grew into a home that provided safe, transitional housing for young adults navigating difficult seasons. For seven years, my house became a daily space for shared meals, late-night conversations, worship, laughter, tears, and discipleship.
More than 76 young adults called Lisa's House home during those years. Countless others gathered around the table, discovering that "home" is about far more than a physical address. It’s about being welcomed. It’s about belonging. It’s about encountering the unconditional love of God right where you are.
Lisa's House was never something I set out to build. It was simply what God built through one "yes" at a time.
Chapter 2: Where We Are Today
In early 2024, after multiple major surgeries, life-threatening infections, and a very long season of recovery, I had to make the difficult decision to close the physical doors of Lisa's House.
It wasn't the ending I would have chosen. For a long time, it felt like a painful pause.
But I’ve come to realize that while the physical doors to the house closed, the ministry never did. The address simply changed. The ministry became portable.
For seven years, Lisa's House looked like a specific home with a crowded kitchen table. Today, Lisa's House looks like coffee shops, local restaurants, phone calls, Zoom meetings, and quiet moments of prayer.
The young adults who became family during those years will always be part of my story. Like any family, life has carried each of us into new seasons. We may not gather around the same kitchen table anymore, but the love and connection we've shared remain.
Today, as I continue walking through a season of rebuilding, I can see God gently expanding the table once again. Some faces are familiar. Others are brand new. Whether we're meeting over coffee, sharing a meal, talking on the phone, gathering on Zoom, or simply praying together, the invitation is still the same: to walk through life together and remind one another that we are deeply loved by God.
The location has changed, but the mission hasn't. Lisa's House is still about creating spaces where people encounter the unconditional love of God and discover they don't have to navigate this human experience alone.
Chapter 3: Where We’re Going
I believe God isn't finished writing the story of Lisa's House.
As He opens doors in the years ahead, my prayer is to see this ministry continue creating spaces where people experience the unconditional love of God, find authentic community, and receive the practical support they need to rebuild their lives. I hope that includes partnering with others to provide safe housing, mentoring, discipleship, and loving relationships for those navigating addiction, abuse, homelessness, grief, and other difficult seasons.
Exactly what that will look like is still unfolding, and I'm at peace with that.
Because if these years have taught me anything, it's that God is far more interested in faithfulness than hurry.
So for now, I'm simply continuing to say "yes", just as I did in the very beginning.
One person. One conversation. One meal. One prayer. One act of obedience at a time.
I'll leave the growth to God. He's always been the One building Lisa's House anyway.
JOIN THE STORY
Lisa's House has always grown one faithful "yes" at a time.
If this ministry has encouraged you, or if you'd like to help create more spaces where people can encounter the love of God, your generosity helps me continue walking alongside people today while prayerfully preparing for whatever He has next.
Thank you for helping make room for one more.
